About
My name is Julie Ballentine and I reside in Exeter, NH. I work primarily in acrylics on gallery wrapped canvas, with painted edges. My paintings are realistic in nature, as I strive for definition in my work. I love taking photos and they have become the inspiration and reference material for many of my paintings. The beauty of the woods, interesting buildings, the innocence of a child enjoying the beach, and loving pets are some of the subjects that grab my eye.
I took a couple of art classes in college, where I was first introduced to painting on canvas, while I studied under Walter Hatke. Life got busy with raising my family, volunteering at schools, watching my children play sports and perform in the band. The inspiration I needed to return to painting came when my grown daughter and her friend had a craft/painting day. I remembered the feeling of the paintbrush on the canvas, so I dusted off my paint brushes and here I am many years after leaving college, creating art again. Painting is relaxing, therapeutic, and simply put, it makes me happy. I hope my art brings you happiness and joy as well.
